My brother Steven was last seen on Mt Marcy 33 years ago on April 12 1976. To this day there has been no sign of Steven. While searching for Steven we found the body of George Atkinson on the rock ledges of Panther Gorge on the side of Mt Marcy. On February 19 2000 my dog Winter singlehandedly found the body of Toma Vracarich in the avalanche on Wright Peak. I have been involved in many successful Adirondack High Peaks searches. I had been training Winter to find Steven but that effort was stopped by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS-DEC). I was arrested and harassed by the NYS-DEC as I continued in my efforts to find Steven. The situation for me became untenable under the constant harassment by the NYS-DEC. So my efforts with the best means for search and rescue, a dog, and a proven avalanche rescue dog were effectively stopped by the NYS-DEC. The NYS-DEC's policy of "a search is never ended" is but a lie. I have developed search and rescue in the Adirondack High Peaks to an extremely high level. And I have continued this work under the radar of the NYS-DEC's evil eye. I will be updating the status of this situation in the coming weeks. I want to thank everyone who has helped me over the years. I know who you all are and I am humbled by the time and assistance you have given to me and my family.
I also know the people who have harmed, hindered and impeded my efforts to find my brother. And that story will be also told. It is too bad that situation has taken so much of my energy. That energy could have been spent doing something a lot more worthwhile. The truth will be told.
